Opportunities

Volunteer at the Hohoe Christian Orphans' Home in Ghana.

Volunteers will be housed at the orphanage in comfortable shared accommodation with power, water and western style toilet facilities. They will assist local qualified teachers, with basic English, Math and Science lessons. They will also assist with music, art and outdoor activities and just generally interact in a positive environment with the children. Interacting with volunteers broadens the children’s “world” and adds to their self esteem.

The work is suitable for all ages, male and female, and the help of volunteers is a vital part of our organisation. Volunteers are charged a small fee of roughly $100USD/week to cover accommodation, food, utilities and incidentals. The orphanage is in a picturesque location on the outskirts of Hohoe. Volunteers have their weekends free to visit the many tourist attractions in the area.

Hohoe Christian Orphans’ Home cares for approximately 90 children, 40 of whom are housed in the recently completed orphanage/school, the rest are cared for in a day care situation. HCOH is an independent, non profit, NGO founded in 2003 to offer physical, social, educational and moral care for the many needy, deprived and destitute children in the Volta Region and Hohoe in particular.
